Getting the most from your parametric flood insurance quote

Parametric insurance provides simple, affordable and rapid-payout coverage to the businesses that need it most. We use a smart sensor to measure flood depth at the insured property. When flood water reaches a pre-selected trigger depth, we begin the claim.

It’s important to consider a few questions when setting up coverage to make sure that the triggers reflect any losses if a flood were to occur. The steps on the right are designed to help create parametric insurance that works best for any situation.

The main thing to remember is that FloodFlash experts are here to help. Have questions about premiums, limits or setting up a policy? Our specialist team can help you through every stage of the process.

The quote process in four steps

1. Determine sensor location

The smart sensor that comes with every policy must be installed on an external wall of a property on the site you are looking to insure. If in doubt, the FloodFlash team can support your efforts.

2. Decide your parametric triggers

Select the trigger depth and associated payout for the policy. The depth is measured from ground level at the point where the sensor is placed. FloodFlash experts are on hand to provide insights and guide you throughout.

3. Review

Our quote and non-binding indication documents are designed so it’s easy to explore different trigger setups for a policy. Simply enter the values decided in stage 2 to review and adjust the policy premium.

4. Formalise terms with FloodFlash

Once happy with the sensor placement and trigger setup, confirm the details for the policy with a FloodFlash expert to begin the bind process.

Placing the sensor and choosing depths

Before buying a Flood Flash policy, you need to choose three things:

  1. a location for your smart sensor
  2. trigger depths for your cover
  3. payout amounts for each trigger depth.
This video runs you through the process and how choosing the sensor and depths carefully can lead to big reductions in premium.
